Winners of the Brisbane Management Excellence Awards were announced on Thursday 10 September at the 2009 Brisbane MEA Regional Final. The Management Excellence Awards are Australia’s most prestigious awards for the individual manager. Commencing in Darwin over seventeen years ago, the Awards crossed the Territory border a year later and were adopted in regional Queensland. The Awards are unique in that they celebrate individual contribution and achievements as opposed to organisations or niche groups and community entities. They give individuals the opportunity to be recognised in the business community as leaders who stand out from the crowd. Brisbane finalists and guests celebrated in style as the 2009 Brisbane Managers of the Year were announced at the Sofitel Hotel. Elena thrilled to receive her finalist certificate. ‘Being a finalist means a lot to me. That means that my leadership abilities have been recognised and that I am leading my team in the right direction, Elena said. ‘It was a tough competition and being the only women finalist in Owner Manager Category I truly consider myself as a winner’, she laughs. ‘It was a very special event as I had a great company of my colleagues, business associates and friends supporting me at the luncheon.
