AIS Water CEO Elena Gosse Finalist, Community Philanthropist of the Year Category 2020 Queensland Community Foundation Awards

As a woman dedicated to improving the quality of life for people around the world both professionally and personally, Elena Gosse was honoured last night (7.9.20) to be a finalist in the 2020 Queensland Community Foundation Awards.

The awards, held at Brisbane’s Parliament House, saw Elena recognised as a finalist in the Community Philanthropist of the Year category along with fellow finalists, Professor Ian Frazer AC and Caroline Frazer (winners), Robert Bryan AM, Perry Cross AM and Dr Joanna Tait.

Nominated by Women’s Legal Service Queensland (WLSQ), Elena, the CEO of Brisbane-based water disinfection technology company AIS Water was acknowledged for raising more than $120,000 for WLSQ as well as raising awareness about the impacts of domestic and family violence.

“As a child I experienced the impacts of family violence in our home. It’s one of the reasons why I am so passionate about helping to create a world where women and children can feel safe” Ms Gosse said.

“Domestic and family violence is not a problem experienced by one or two groups in our world – it does not discriminate. Many people of all ages, cultural and ethnic backgrounds, sexuality, education and income levels, experience domestic violence (DV) in their lifetime.

“It is a whole-of-society problem and requires a whole-of-society solution. Until that can be found, we absolutely must do what we can to help those in situations of DV to receive the help they need to escape and be safe.

“WLSQ does exactly that which is why I do everything I can to support them and help them to help vulnerable women and children.”

WLSQ provides free legal and welfare assistance to women and children escaping domestic and family violence as well as frontline services including a helpline (1800 957 957). Professionally, Ms Gosse is also a passionate advocate of raising awareness of the role water plays in enhancing and preserving life including the need to keep it clean, safe and accessible.  AIS Water designs and manufactures chlorine generation technology for commercial and residential swimming pools.
