Federal Small Business Minister, Bruce Billson recently invited CEO of Australian Innovative Systems (AIS) to join him at a small gathering for leading business women along with Federal Member for Brisbane, Teresa Gambaro.
The event, held on 4 May at Brisbane’s Commonwealth Parliamentary Offices was attended by approximately 25 business women from various industries including manufacturing, retail, fashion and hospitality.
Minister Billson sought guests’ feedback on the opportunities and challenges facing businesswomen and reinforced his commitment to supporting women in enterprise. The Minister shared that 93.3 percent of Australian women business operators are working in small business with the number of women business owners increasing across our nation. Labour force data shows women account for around a third of our nation’s business operators with data from January (2015) showing there are 406,400 women running a business.
